We're bringing an end to this live text coverage now but there are still two football games going on - France v USA & Mali v Israel - and you can watch the action at the top of this page.
Earlier, we saw a two-hour suspension in the in the football match between Argentina and Morocco following crowd trouble and the game eventually concluded in an empty stadium.
It has been confirmed that diver Tom Daley and rower Helen Glover will be the Team GB flagbearers at Friday's opening ceremony.
We'll be back with more from the football, rugby sevens and archery tomorrow but, for now, here are some of today's top stories:

Image source, Getty ImagesThe eye-catching ceremony will take place across a 6km route along the Seine. It will begin at Austerlitz bridge and end among the gardens, fountains and palaces in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower at Trocadero.
There will be almost 100 boats carrying more than 10,000 athletes, plus a host of dignitaries, which sail past Paris' iconic landmarks, including Notre Dame cathedral and Pont Neuf.
The boats will transport the athletes in the parade but also be used in the artistic part of the ceremony, which will showcase the history and culture of Paris and France.
The identity of the performers, though, has been kept a tight secret.
Thousands of people are still expected to line the river and the streets with millions more watching on television around the world.
"I’d like to show France in all its diversity," said Thomas Jolly, the French actor and theatre director named as the ceremony's artistic director - the role performed by Danny Boyle at London 2012.
"Illustrate the richness and plurality shaped by its history, which has been influenced and inspired by the diverse cultures that have passed through it, while itself serving as a source of inspiration."
The ceremony will also include the official opening of the Games, carried out by France president Emmanuel Macron, and the lighting of the Olympic cauldron.
Again, many of the finer details have been kept as a surprise.

An Olympic underdog three years ago, Keely Hodgkinson has evolved into a gold medal favourite in Paris.
Breaking Kelly Holmes' 26-year British record clinched silver in Tokyo and even illness could not stop her winning the European title last month.
Setting a new national record at the Diamond League meet in London at the weekend further underlined her credentials.

It had just finished so some of us went to the athletics to cheer ourselves up. And it was absolutely full to the brim, the atmosphere was just something else. It was just the best hour when we hadn’t really expected it.
If you were going to write the narrative for the middle weekend of a home Games, that’d be it. Jess was the poster girl, not many people outside athletics knew Greg at the time, and then everyone knew Mo Farah. It was a wonderful Saturday that transcended sport.
It was 44 minutes of pure joy.

He was 38 years old and I’d just turned 26. The British camp was so chuffed, we all just erupted with joy. The resilience, the training, the mental and physical longevity from LA 1984 – that is one very powerful body and one powerful mind.
It was a magical time and I’m not surprised that it’s second in our countdown. Silver is an unfamiliar colour for him but it’s a deserving spot!

Olympic bronze medal swimmer on BBC Radio 5 liveWe were back in the Olympic village watching this. He was one of the people I admired so much, I was in awe of him and wanted to meet him so badly! In 1996 we got one Olympic gold medal. This guy was a different class and he was a legend.
He was under huge pressure because it was the Steve Redgrave show. They didn’t have it all their own way either because it was a close race, the Italians had a very strong team. I just remember the focus that they all had.

Men's football
It has been a busy day of football action with eight matches in the men's competition.
The main story came in the match between Morocco and Argentina. Morocco were 2-0 up, Argentina pulled a goal back and were pushing for an equaliser. Cristian Medina then appeared to have made it 2-2 in the 16th of what had been 15 scheduled minutes of injury time at the end of the second half.
There followed crowd trouble, a near two-hour delay with the 'equaliser' then disallowed anyway for offside before Morocco completed a 2-1 win in front of an empty stadium.
Elsewhere, Japan recorded an impressive 5-0 win over Paraguay, who had Wilder Viera sent off after only 25 minutes. Former Manchester City man Sergio Gomez missed a penalty but then scored the winner as Spain defeated tournament debutants Uzbekistan 2-1.
Iraq came from a goal down to beat Ukraine 2-1, with New Zealand overcoming Guinea by the same score. Egypt drew 0-0 with Dominican Republic.
There are two matches currently ongoing and both are at the half-time stage. It is goalless in both the games between hosts France and the United States and the tie involving Mali and Israel.

We were both quite injury-prone and I remember that flight talking about what life will be like when we get home. And she said she was definitely going to carry on, she knew that if she stayed fit then she could do something magical.
She had only decided to do the 800 a few days before the event, so to go on and battle those injuries, to be so open about her struggles in life, to do what she did brought tears to my eyes.
It was one of the best things I’d ever seen, knowing how much it meant to her and how much she had been through. I am so pleased that this moment is in the top three because it was pure magic.

Olympic bronze medal swimmer on BBC Radio 5 liveThere was something so special about that Games because it was in Athens, the home of the Olympics. We all knew Kelly and we were all rooting for her. Inside the camp, I remember crowding around this small telly in the camp and the pure delight when she crossed the line, I’ll never forget it. The expression on her face was just so wonderful.
I feel like she is under-celebrated. Her achievements are monumental, and I don’t think that gets enough air time. She is a national institution. She ignited the belief in British Olympic sports. She deserves much more recognition.

Maddie Hinch was the story. It just kept gathering momentum as well, the story just ran and ran throughout the games. It was a group of women coming together against the odds, with all their different individualities and their stories.

Olympic 400m bronze medallist on BBC Radio 5 LivePeople really engaged with this moment. I remember in 1988 when the men beat West Germany and it had been since then, the wait for the womens’ moment. It was such a moment where everyone was talking about it on the streets and in the shops. It rippled and went further than I ever thought it would.
Maddie Hinch, the keeper, became a national hero, saving all four penalties. It was a magnificent night with so many good repercussions in terms of inspiring so many young girls.

All of these people, they make people believe. It’s like when Roger Bannister first ran a mile under 4 minutes and proved that it could be done. Once you start to see that it’s possible, it makes others follow.

Sir Chris Hoy with his three golds and his big thighs – he became known for them!
He was so driven to get those medals. All these athletes we are talking about here are game-changers and without a doubt he will go down as one of the greatest Olympians that Great Britain has ever had. He was so special.
